Review Board 2.5.5 Release Notes¶
Release date: May 17, 2016
New Features¶
Added support for Mercurial and Subversion repositories on Codebase.
Codebase is a hosting service that supports Mercurial, Subversion, and Git repositories. We previously supported Git repositories, but have extended that support to Mercurial and Subversion.
If you already have an account linked on Codebase, you will need to re-authenticate in order to add a new repository. You will automatically be asked for new credentials.
Creating, updating, or deleting API tokens now causes e-mails to be sent to the token’s owner.
This helps to provide an audit trail for API token changes, and ensures that an attacker is unable to create a token on another user’s behalf through any method without the user being informed.
Usability Improvements¶
The review group configuration page once again shows lists of available users and current members.
In an earlier 2.5.x release, the list of a group’s users was changed to a list of raw IDs, in an effort to prevent overloading servers with several thousands of users. This change impacted usability of this page, removing the ability to really see who was on a group, and making it difficult to add new users.
In an upcoming release, we will be unveiling a new selector that improves the usability further while also preventing the performance problems that can result on large installations with the current selector.
If you were previously affected by these performance problems, and aren’t susceptible to the PostgreSQL bug mentioned below, then you may want to stay on 2.5.4 for now.
Extensions¶
Custom hosting services can now collect custom authentication details.
Previously, all hosting services were expected to take a username and a password. They can now provide a custom authentication form, taking in any credentials needed for that service.
Bug Fixes¶
Administration¶
Condensing diffs no longer fails or causes data loss when using Postgres databases.
A bad query could cause manual compression of the diffs in a database to fail, possibly losing data. We’ve fixed the query and added sanity-checking to ensure this can no longer happen.
We are not aware of any cases where this has happened in production today.
Fixed the display of the Repository Plan field when configuring repositories.
This field was being shown even for repositories that didn’t have a plan, leading to confusion.
Mercurial¶
SSH-backed Mercurial paths are no longer incorrectly accepted when adding repositories.
Review Board cannot perform the types of requests needed with a SSH-backed Mercurial repository, but we still allowed users to add them, not seeing errors until they went to upload diffs. Those paths are now rejected.
